Partnering with Bay Area Culinary Historians (BACH), Les Dames d’Escoffier San Francisco invites you to a special afternoon celebrating the history and legacy of Sunset Magazine. Dame Jennifer Pagano will moderate a conversation with Dames Jerry Di Vecchio, Margo True, Elaine Johnson, Sara Schneider, and Linda Anusasananan, reflecting on the magazine’s influence on California cuisine, entertaining, and modern living. The program will include a tasting of classic Sunset hors d’oeuvres. Seating is limited.
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in contributing an appetizer or two, please see the sign-up sheet that includes links to recipes taken from the Sunset All-Time Favorite Recipes book: https://tinyurl.com/2xd3bhkpFor more information on this, email Dame Carrie Tillie: carriet@bayareaculinaryhistorians.org
Let’s grab our trapper keepers (aka a notebooks) and sharpen our pencils because the Culinary Arts Department Chair and Dame, Dame Chantal Martin is inviting SF Dames to a three-course prix-fixe dinner at Laney Bistro at Oakland’s own, Laney College. This Member Meetup is a unique and tasty way to support one of the most acclaimed culinary schools in Northern California.
We’ll meet at 5:30 on April 23rd at Laney Bistro, conveniently located just a few blocks away from Lake Merritt BART Station for a presentation by Department Chair/Executive Chef and Dame Chantal so we can learn more about the history of the program, followed by a $40 three-course dinner. While there won’t be a test afterwards there will be a guided tour. Everyone is more than welcome to bring a bottle of wine or other adult beverage to enjoy with dinner if they would like. Plan on an evening of fun, higher education and fellowship. Please buy your tickets before April 16th!
We are pre-selling tickets through our registration, but we ask Dames to bring cash for student tips.
